This UK office in the North West is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee the delivery of large-scale renewable energy projects.
This role offers flexibility to accommodate a multi-contract approach as they scale their operations.
Role and Responsibilities
Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop the Construction Phase Plan in collaboration with subcontractors, detailing schedules and milestones.
- Coordinate logistics with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Conduct pre-construction site assessments and manage site setup, including temporary facilities, access roads, and laydown areas.
Site Management
- Lead and manage on-site subcontractor teams, ensuring efficient workflows and timely completion.
- Oversee all construction activities, including:
- Groundworks, trenching, and structure installation.
- Module mounting and electrical works.
- Site reinstatement and final handover.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Collaborate with Engineering to develop the Risk Register during pre-construction and ensure a smooth handover to the construction phase.
- Act as Principal Contractor, ensuring full compliance with UK health, safety, and environmental regulations, including CDM (Construction Design and Management) regulations.
- Implement and enforce health & safety plans, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS).
- Promote a strong safety culture, conducting regular toolbox talks, site inspections, and incident reporting.
Quality Assurance & Reporting
- Ensure all work is delivered to the highest standards and in line with Employer Requirements and industry best practices.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager, including cost tracking and risk assessments.
Resource Management
- Monitor project progress, identifying and addressing potential overruns.
- Optimize resource allocation across manpower, materials, and equipment to maximize efficiency.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing large-scale solar farm construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of UK construction practices, regulations, and standards, including CDM compliance.
- Excellent leadership, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
