The Role:

The Planning Development Manager will be responsible for directly managing a portfolio of large-scale grid-connected solar and energy storage projects, coordinating input from multi-disciplinary in-house and external teams from early stage through to a “ready-to-build” project.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key point of contact for projects, managing input from property, planning, grid, technical, legal, and commercial teams.
  • Ensure development projects are managed proactively against clearly defined project timescales and milestones.
  • Lead on the planning aspects of the project, coordinating external consultants and managing community engagement activity.
  • Ensure all key stakeholders in a project are identified and are included in a stakeholder management plan.
  • Prepare weekly status updates on projects, reporting progress against the plan and detailing risks and mitigation.
  • Set out and strictly monitor project budgets, ensuring project spend is in line with forecast and regularly reporting on progress and variations.
  • Line manage a graduate planner with a particular focus on site finding and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Proven post-qualification experience with a degree in a planning-related discipline and eligibility for membership of an accredited professional institute (RTPI or MRTPI or equivalent).
  • The ability to liaise with both internal and external teams, developing productive relationships to ensure projects get all the approvals required.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing renewable energy projects through the entire development cycle, the key issues faced, and the ability to negotiate viable solutions.
  • Have experience and the ability to identify potential obstacles to delivery and influence key decision-makers to ensure the project is completed on time.
  • Have experience of renewable energy project development.
  • Have the ability to effectively manage resources to deliver key outcomes.
  • Have a full UK driving license and the ability to travel frequently for site visits and meetings.
