Project Communications Officer- BESS, Solar Renewables

The Community Liaison Officer will serve as the primary point of contact between the company and local communities affected by their solar, onshore wind, and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project managers and development managers to lead and coordinate engagement with key stakeholders, including Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs), Councillors, Community Councils and groups, as well as media representatives.
  • Oversee the reporting and evaluation of project communication activities. This includes initially assisting project managers in developing project communication strategies, followed by ongoing reviews of weekly status updates and monthly summary reports to ensure alignment with agreed objectives, timelines, and budgets.
  • Establish and maintain a central communications calendar, ensuring it remains up to date with project communication milestones, industry events, and parliamentary activities.
  • Coordinate and edit the production of project-specific communication materials, including consultation event materials, FAQs, media content, and website updates.
  • Manage the production of marketing materials, ensuring adherence to GSC brand guidelines and liaising with external suppliers as necessary.
  • Stay informed about industry trends by reviewing sector news, national media, and competitor activities, leveraging insights to enhance project communications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or Environmental Studies, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2yrs experience in community engagement, public relations, or a similar role.
  • Experience within the renewable energy sector is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple stakeholders and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
