SearchTech is delighted to be supporting a leading renewable energy and waste management business on England’s South Coast as they look to appoint a Project Development / Project Engineer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive organisation operating at the cutting edge of sustainable infrastructure—working on new energy projects, plant upgrades, and efficiency-driven engineering solutions across multiple operational sites.
🔧 The Role
Reporting into the Technical Development Director, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of capital projects from early-stage concept through to operational handover.
Key responsibilities include:

Supporting the design and delivery of engineering growth projects and site upgrades.

Producing and reviewing technical documentation including P&IDs, PFDs, SLDs and GA drawings.

Performing mass & energy balances and technical feasibility assessments.

Supporting environmental permitting and CDM compliance activities.

Preparing scopes of work and technical specifications for EPC tenders and equipment procurement.

Researching emerging technologies to improve operational efficiency and ROI.

Working cross-functionally with commercial and operational teams.

Identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.

Presenting project risks and costed solutions to senior leadership.
👤 About You
You’ll be an ambitious engineer with a strong technical foundation and a genuine interest in sustainability and infrastructure development.
Essential:

Engineering degree in Mechanical, Process, Chemical or similar discipline.

Ability to interpret process diagrams and perform engineering calculations.

Working knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation, including CDM and EA permitting.

Proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
-
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.

Collaborative team player.

Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
-
Master’s degree or project management qualification.

Experience within renewable energy, anaerobic digestion, recycling or waste-to-energy environments.

Exposure to financial modelling or investment appraisal.

Knowledge of Ofgem processes and renewable incentive schemes (ROCs, FITs, RHI, PPAs, REGOs).

IOSH or NEBOSH certification.
