SearchTech Recruitment is partnering with a leading organisation operating across the UK’s environmental, waste, and resource management sector to appoint a UK Logistics Manager. This is a senior, commercially focused role with responsibility for driving operational excellence, logistics performance, and margin optimisation across multiple UK trading projects.
The Role
The UK Logistics Manager will oversee end-to-end commercial operations, transport, and logistics activities, ensuring materials are moved safely, compliantly, and cost-effectively. Working closely with Commercial Managers and operational leadership, the role plays a key part in meeting contractual obligations, maximising revenue, and improving delivery performance across operational assets.
This position combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership, supplier management, and continuous improvement across logistics and supply chain activities.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Operations

Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant execution of commercial operations across UK trading projects

Manage the order-to-delivery process, ensuring contractual tonnages and KPIs are met

Support revenue growth, margin optimisation, and customer fulfilment alongside Commercial Managers

Identify opportunities to increase trading volumes, develop EX Works business, and improve service performance
Logistics & Transportation

Oversee all inbound and outbound transport activities

Manage logistics partners, hauliers, and suppliers to secure capacity and negotiate competitive rates

Develop and maintain logistics plans aligned with operational requirements and seasonal demand

Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation, site rules, and health & safety standards
Operational Alignment

Work closely with Plant Managers to optimise material flows, delivery patterns, and throughput

Support capacity planning and continuous improvement initiatives

Lead root-cause analysis for disruptions, delivery issues, and compliance risks
Strategy, Risk & Continuous Improvement

Drive initiatives to improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance reliability

Contribute to commercial and supply chain strategy

Develop KPIs and reporting dashboards to track performance

Identify and mitigate operational, logistical, and commercial risks

Ensure strong governance, documentation, and audit readiness

Experience & Background

Proven experience in logistics, commercial operations, or supply chain management within the UK

Strong understanding of UK transport, waste management legislation, and compliance requirements

Track record of improving operational performance and supply chain effectiveness

Experience onboarding new contracts or operational assets

Commercially astute with strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
